A test or exam is an educational examination intended to objectively measure a test-taker’s comprehension, verbal skill, aptitude, logical skills, physical aptitude, or overall classification in various subjects. There are several types of these exams, and they include the TOEFL (Test Of English as a Foreign Language) test, the ACT (adderying academic study) test, and the MAQ (Medical Assessment Quotient) test. All these tests are created for the purpose of helping individuals to pass or obtain a certificate in their respective fields.

The first step in the entire process is a test identification. In order to perform a reliable test identification, there are three procedures that should be implemented. First of all, a comprehensive planning should be made regarding the objectives of the testing, the time scale for implementation, the materials and the format of the evaluation. Also, before testing, the following major tasks should be performed:

All tests are determined based on certain rules, which are known as the dependent upon, or independent rules. These are implemented in order to avoid giving a test that is too general or too specific and inappropriate in relation to the student’s present educational institution, class size, age, gender, and interests. In addition, a test may not exceed five dependent upon class size.

Independent rules usually follow the following format. The first question is asked, and then the test taker has to determine the correct answer by considering only those questions that were presented to him/her. If the test is too open-ended, it will give rise to doubts among the test takers, thus affecting the entire test. Moreover, independent tests require the test taker to make progress tests at regular intervals. Most educational institutions follow the schedule based upon the progress of the students.

Progress tests are normally associated with the evaluation of achievement gaps. They help in analyzing the student’s performance based on the set of test cases. In order to make progress tests, the following major tasks have to be carried out in parallel: the collection of test data, the correction of mistakes and errors, and the final evaluation. Based on the test results, the correcting of errors is made and the evaluation is made. These tasks are followed in order to achieve the desired goals.

Standardized tests, as the name suggests, are standardized in terms of the items included in each section of the test. A sample test is used in order to generate valid results; therefore, all the tests should be consistent with the international quality standards. Students are supposed to get a copy of the entire test package from the testing provider, in order to review the entire test in detail. Most educational institutes send a test sample to students along with the results of each section, allowing them to make corrections and get a feel for how they might have performed in each section.
